2017 KNA Garage Sale Wrap-up – A Record Year!

This year’s event was an excellent sunny day and bargain hunters started coming early in the morning in search of treasures. There were about 70 Kennydale residents who set up garage sales!  In a  few instances the sales started on Friday or continued on Sunday!

As all of you who conducted a garage sale know, it takes a lot of planning and effort to gather your items, get them marked,  and set up, and of course, sold!  Throughout Kennydale, your efforts were reflected in the variety, quantity and quality of the items that you all had on display​.
To support your efforts, members of the KNA Organizing Committee worked diligently to publicize the sale: Mary Erikson advertised on the KNA website, NextDoor.com, and Facebook; Darius Richards sent an e-blast to over 300 Kennydale neighbors; Mary, Vicki Richards and Janice Dougherty distributed flyers in the neighborhood; and Keith Altenhof, Darius and Rajendra Agrawaal put A-boards at strategic locations.  Some sellers also advertised on NextDoor. And of course, the distribution of red balloons on an annual basis has given a particular identity to Kennydale. Not only Kennydale residents, but the visiting bargain hunters as well know that the red balloons show where the garage sales are in progress.  On Friday evening, the members of the organizing committee plus Lynne Milnor, Subhashni Agrawaal, Justin Hoover and Bruce Erikson picked up red balloons from the Everything Party Store at the Landing.   Then on Saturday morning team members were out and about distributing balloons, and talking to neighbors. Other persons who worked behind the scenes to help the organizing committee included Keith Altenhof and Avikar Agrawaal.  Due to the large number of sale participants, our supply of balloons may have run out before we reached you, but  we did make a special effort to cover first the 16 people who emailed us.  The KNA Board will be looking for ways we can improve the garage sale and the delivery of balloons in the future.  Please email me with your ideas!
