KENNYDALE NEIGHBORHOOD-WIDE GARAGE SALE
Saturday, June 21st, 9 am to 4 pm Plan now for the annual garage sale, organized by the Kennydale Neighborhood Association. We encourage all residents to participate: set up a sale at your home, set up signs, and look forward to the increased crowds that this sale always attracts. In 2013, the neighborhood set a record, with over 60 families participating; and, the weather was perfect, resulting in a good amount of traffic throughout the neighborhood. KNA is supporting this event by placing ads in several local newspapers, also in The Little Nickel, Craigslist, etc. We are also placing flyers at local businesses, and A-Board signs at all the entry roads into Kennydale. Also, we will deliver a red balloon to each seller, which you can place at the front of your lot for better visibility. This is a great opportunity to make a few $$$, clear out "treasures”, clean out your closets, attic, garage and basement. Also, go over to your neighbor's and see what goodies they have for sale! Have fun and have a great sale! Rajendra Agrawaal, Garage Sale Chairman agrawaalr@yahoo.com

June 7th is The Signature Of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert; July 12th is Songs Of Willow Frost by Jamie Ford;
no August meeting; Sept. 6th is The Orphan Master's Son by Adam Johnson. If anyone hasn't read The Hotel On The Corner of Bitter And Sweet, they might want to do so before the July book, Willow Frost. It is sort of the pre-quel. On March 29, four Garden Club members - Laurie Beden, Sarah Ennis, Susan Miller and Vicki Richards - got the season off to a start by touring the Bellevue Botanical Gardens*. At the start, there was some rain, but it stopped and the sun even made a brief appearance. The group walked through the trails and over the suspension bridge, observing the bulbs that are blooming and the trees which are just beginning to leaf out. Overall, the Gardens consists of 53 acres of cultivated gardens, restored woodlands and natural wetlands. A new visitor center is under construction and will open in the fall.
Now is a great time to pull weeds in your garden beds. All the RAIN we have had makes for easy pulling – so if the sun comes out, it’s a great time to be outside. The Club’s next garden event is on Thursday, May 8 at 7:00 pm., at Susan Miller’s home. This is our annual container planting event. The way it works is, you bring your gloves and hand tools, containers and suitable plants....and a few extra plants to trade with the others. KNA will supply the potting soil! Please call Susan at 206-601-1584 if you would like to attend. Participation in the KNA Garden Club is free and open to all paid-up KNA members! * The Gardens are located at 12001 Main Street, in Bellevue. Free, and open daily |
