KENNYDALE NEIGHBORHOOD MEETING
At Kennydale Elementary School, 1700 NE 28th Street Tuesday, April 29th at 6:45 pm Special Guest Speakers Cindy Jones Branch Manager, Washington Federal Savings Bank – Rainier Ave. Branch Cindy will discuss identity theft, ways to ensure the security of your bank and credit card accounts, current scams and using the internet securely Tim Lawless Code Compliance Officer – City of Renton Tim will provide an overview of the Code Compliance Department’s functions, how they receive and process complaints and determine what is or is not a violation. Included will be visuals of typical code compliance violations. He will also share past success stories, and situations that are currently active. Darius Richards Kennydale’s representative to the PSE Community Advisory Group Darius will bring you up to date on what is going on with PSE’s plans, and speak about our neighborhood’s response and what you can do as a concerned resident. All Kennydale residents are invited to attend this KNA Quarterly Meeting,and we encourage your participation in the Q&A sessions that will follow each speaker!

Tuesday, April 23rd (Please note the new date!) at 6:45 pm* At Kennydale Elementary School, 1700 NE 28th Street Special Guest Speakers Don Custer ~ Renton’s Mayor 1964 – 1970 and current volunteer historian for the Renton Historical Museum. Don will share his knowledge of Kennydale and Renton to give you an accurate and humorous historical perspective on current events…..not only what happened, but also why it happened…so come prepared with your questions! Larry Reymann ~ Chairman of the Renton Community Services / Park Board and long-time Kennydale resident. Larry will tell us about his work in environmental restoration of the May Creek Watershed, and about the new May Creek trailhead at Lake Washington Blvd., including a look ahead to possibilities for future extension of the trail. All kennydale residents are invited to attend this Quarterly Neighborhood Meeting, and we encourage your participation and questions! * Please plan to arrive at 6:45 pm so that you can check in, get some refreshments and chat with your neighbors prior to the start of the meeting at 7:00 pm sharp! …….more about our guest speakers ~ After his service as Renton’s Mayor, Don Custer operated the family’s hardware business, and then became a State Planner in Olympia, and then an assistant to Mayor DeLaurenti, and numerous other endeavors. In addition to his current work at the Renton Historical Museum, he teaches a current events course to Seniors at the Burien Community Center. Larry Reymann has been heavily involved in the environmental restoration of the May Creek Watershed for many years and the Renton parks Board for the past five years. Tuesday, January 29th, 6:45* pm At Kennydale Elementary School, 1700 NE 28th Street Special City of Renton Guest Speakers Chip Vincent, Administrator, Dept. of Community & Economic Development (CED) Vanessa Dolbee, Senior Planner, CED Peter Renner, Facilities Director Chip and Vanessa will present information on the very latest version of the Quendall Terminals Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), which is also known as the Preferred Alternative Addendum. This Preferred Alternative represents a more compact development that responds to concerns that had been voiced by Kennydale residents, particularly those residing in North Kennydale. Peter will bring us up to date on the planning efforts that are currently underway for construction of the new King County Library branches at the Cedar River site and up in the Renton Highlands. Both sites have some significant challenges, and progress is being made to meet those challenges. This is a great opportunity to get the full picture from these three key people in Renton’s administration. Please join us to get up to date on what is going on, and to participate in the Q&A session that will follow! Also on the agenda ~ A special recognition will be given to Kim Browne for her 13 years of dedicated service to KNA, starting with her role as our founding President in 1999, and for her leadership in other roles during the ensuing years.
