KNA’s two Ice Cream Socials provided a welcome break from the heat this summer. At our July 21st social, we served about 150 people and went through 5 gallons of ice cream. Event chairperson Rebeckah Orton tried something new this year and bought swirled flavors (like chocolate fudge in vanilla, rather than plain old vanilla) and this turned out to be quite a hit! Thank you, Rebeckah.
In addition to ice cream service, our social on August 15th also featured the Disney movie “Frozen” shown by Renton Neighborhood Program staff on their giant inflatable screen. Very appropriate, as the evening was somewhat chilly, but regardless of that, it was nice to see a crowd of about 75 people enjoying the ice cream and socializing, and about 125 people at the movie. Thank you’s to KNA Board member Janice Dougherty for chairing the ice cream service, and to Board member Sue Jahnke for securing the movie through the Renton Neighborhood Program’s “Screen on the Green” mini-grant process.
