The response of Kennydale residents to KNA’s collection of school supplies and basic clothing items has been extremely gratifying this year. The need for these items goes on year-round, but KNA puts a particular emphasis on getting these items together at the annual neighborhood picnic and in the preceding summer months, so that they will be ready for donation to Kennydale Elementary School students during the first week of school. This year we received a good quantity of supplies that had been carefully selected by the donors, and a record amount of $200 in cash from others, which allowed several KNA Board members to shop the back-to-school sales to utilize every dollar to its best advantage. On September 4, KNA Board members Darius Richards, Sue Jahnke, Vicki Richards and Faye Janders (pictured below) delivered a variety of backpacks, school supplies, and clothing basics to the school. We estimate the value of these items to be around $ 700. A great big thank you to all who donated items, shopped, and/or contributed funds towards this endeavor!
