On March 29, four Garden Club members - Laurie Beden, Sarah Ennis, Susan Miller and Vicki Richards - got the season off to a start by touring the Bellevue Botanical Gardens*. At the start, there was some rain, but it stopped and the sun even made a brief appearance. The group walked through the trails and over the suspension bridge, observing the bulbs that are blooming and the trees which are just beginning to leaf out. Overall, the Gardens consists of 53 acres of cultivated gardens, restored woodlands and natural wetlands. A new visitor center is under construction and will open in the fall.
Now is a great time to pull weeds in your garden beds. All the RAIN we have had makes for easy pulling – so if the sun comes out, it’s a great time to be outside. The Club’s next garden event is on Thursday, May 8 at 7:00 pm., at Susan Miller’s home. This is our annual container planting event. The way it works is, you bring your gloves and hand tools, containers and suitable plants....and a few extra plants to trade with the others. KNA will supply the potting soil! Please call Susan at 206-601-1584 if you would like to attend. Participation in the KNA Garden Club is free and open to all paid-up KNA members! * The Gardens are located at 12001 Main Street, in Bellevue. Free, and open daily
