Great Food Drive Effort = A Pizza Party
As reported in the January 2020 edition of the Kennydale News, our 2019 Fall Food Drive was a great success, with 3,756 grocery items being collected during the month of November for the benefit of the REACH Center of Hope in Renton. The winning class at Kennydale Elementary School was Mr. Vivek Srivastava’s First Grade class, who collected 393 items! To reward the these kids, a pizza party was held on January 23, with the cost of the pizzas being covered 50-50 by the Kennydale Neighborhood Association and by Papa John’s Pizza at 4710 NE 4th Street in the Renton Highlands. Assisting with serving the pizzas, fruit juice and cookies at the party were our Food Drive Chairperson and board member Marcie Palmer and her son Michael, and KNA board members Darius & Vicki Richards.

Overall grocery items collected by the K.E. students and parents, and K,E. staff plus donations brought in by the public totaled 3,756 items. A big thank you to all who participated and especially to the community volunteers who transported about 220 items each day to the REACH Center!
