Renton's History Corner
By Jack Battin, Risdon Middle School
Boeing has been a major part of Renton since WWII. When you’re at The Landing, you can hear a Boeing 737 Max going over your head as it takes off for the first time. But is there any history behind it? For starters, our factory made all 757, B-29, C-97, 707, 727, and almost all 737’s. Boeing has made over 10,000 737's in the Renton factory since 1969! Did you know that the first seven 737-100’s were actually made in the Seattle factory (Plant 2) at Boeing Field (BFI)? According to Boeing’s website, there are 4398 737 airplanes waiting to be built at the Renton Plant for customers around the world.
