Outgoing President's Message -- January 2017
As my 3 years as your KNA President comes to an end, I have much to be thankful for in 2016. Our KNA Board has done a marvelous job of putting on events, conducting meetings and working in other ways for the benefit of the Kennydale Community. Thank you, Board members and all residents who have supported the efforts of KNA; I have really enjoyed working with all of you and look forward to continuing our relationship in 2017 as your KNA Vice President. As many of you are aware, there are three locations in Kennydale (the Kennydale Beach parking area, and the two landscaped areas at I-405 Exit 6 next to the “Welcome”) where KNA volunteers provide on-going landscape maintenance in order to fulfill our responsibilities per the City of Renton Neighborhood Grant program. As Maintenance Chair for KNA, I want to thank the group of people who helped me to maintain those sites, including Diana Wallace, Kim Brown, Nancy Denney, Joy Dolling, Natalie Yusen, Dan Norton, Darius Richards, Jackie Lefebvre, Marta Bloss, Laurie Clark and Deana Hawes; in 2016 you invested 171 hours total from April – September to help beautify our neighborhood. A big thank you to the Griffin Home youth who have done a litter patrol every month starting at Gene Coulon Park and going north to Clover Creek....and thanks also to Roger and Marlene Winter, and all others who take time during their daily walks to pick up litter and keep Lake Washington Blvd. Beautiful. Finally, I want to thank Devin Dolling for his 3 years of service on the KNA Board. During that time, he administered KNA’s website and Facebook page; chaired our Annual Fall Food Drive, served as liaison to Hazen High School and Kennydale’s youth, conducted several neighborhood cleanups, and could be relied on whenever needed. Devin started his freshman year at the University of Washington this fall, and we know that he has what it takes to be a great success there! I wish all of you the best of health and prosperity in 2017!

Incoming President's Message -- January 2017
I am looking forward to serving as KNA’s president for 2017! KNA is in great shape; we are fortunate to have an experienced and enthusiastic Board, 315 current members, and a growing population of residents who appreciate that Kennydale is a very desirable place in which to live. KNA is in good financial shape as well, thanks to the dues paid by our members, support from our area businesses and residents in the form of newsletter ads, donations of cash and/or volunteer hours, and funds that we receive from the City of Renton Neighborhood Grant Program. All of this enables KNA to conduct activities and projects that benefit Kennydale, and to be your #1 channel for credible neighborhood information.
Our past guiding light in the Renton Neighborhood Program, Norma McQuiller, has taken a well-deserved retirement, and we are pleased to inform you that Mr. Drey Hicks has been hired to be Renton’s new Neighborhood Program Coordinator. We are looking forward to working with Drey as improvements to the program are rolled out in the coming months. More on that subject as plans are developed, and best wishes for 2017 from all the KNA Board!
